Hygienic, preventive and therapeutic measures in specialized calf fattening farms and their costs

The monthly figures over the period of a year for the cost of drugs used in 10 calf fattening units with an annual production of 10800 calves were analyzed, and found to be very low, for calves maintained singly, relative to the frequency of disease (53-197%) and of treatments (70-400%). The various forms of disease, and frequency and types of treatment are tabulated, distinctions being drawn between isolated animals, and groups.
