Adults of Ixodes persulcatus Schulze, Dermacentor pictus (Herm.) and D. marginatus (Sulz.) were caused to imbide known amounts of the virus of tick-borne encephalitis by use of an apparatus for the artificial feeding of insects. The minimum infective doses, expressed in LD50's for mice, were found to be 1.5 for the first two ticks and 3.5 for the third.
