Cytological study of Rhinosporidium seeberi by electron microscopy

Sporangia of R. seeberi were studied at various stages to determine the mechanism of their spore formation. The nucleus had a well defined nucleolus and the cytoplasm had cleavage furrows. The sporangia were morphologically similar to the parasitic phase of Coccidioides immitis and it is suggested that the probable mode of division is by progressive cleavage and formation of asexual sporangiospores.
