The mean rupture pressure of 25 recently collected bovine penises was 1486 psi (range 1180 to 1720). The rupture site in 24 of the 25 specimens was on the dorsal surface of the distal curve of the sigmoid flexure. Increasing the pressure in the corpus cavernosum penis to 10000 mm of Hg produced a 15.7% increase in length, 15.9% increase in diameter, and a 6.6% increase in circumference. An average of 81.8 ml of water was required to increase the pressure to 200 mm of Hg, and an additional 27.4 ml was required to increase the pressure from 200 to 7500 mm of Hg.
