Nine species of Hybomitra, 7 species of Tabanus, 4 of Haematopota, 4 of Chrysops, 2 of Atylotus and 1 of Heptatoma occur in the Bryansk region of the Soviet Union. An account is given of their distribution and seasonal abundance in different parts of the region, based on observations in 1964-72. The flight periods of most species lasted from May to August.
