Foetal growth as assessed by anthropometric measurements

Intrauterine curves for weight, length and head circumference were constructed from measurements of 1001 newborn infants and foetuses in Madras. Weight and head circumference were comparable with western standards up to about 28 weeks of pregnancy but thereafter the mean values fell below western values to a maximum difference at 39 weeks. Length was not as variable a factor as weight and was not affected in mild or moderate malnutrition.
