Ventricular fibrillation (VF) is one of the most common causes of sudden death, as well as the most common initial dysrhythmia after cardiac arrest. VF is a frequent correctable rhythm by both electrical and pharmacological measures, but may become refractory in a very small percentage of cases. We describe the use of double sequential defibrillation in a case of refractory VF in Puerto Rico.
