The main pathological change in the lens of rabbits of both sexes weighing 2.5 to 3.5 kg given a K-deficient diet was vacuolar degeneration of young fibres during the process of formation. In the lens of rabbits given Mg-deficient diet degenerative changes occurred in lenticular cells and fibres with formation of fissures containing albuminous fluid among the damaged fibres. When rabbits were deprived of both K and Mg simultaneously, more extensive damage occurred, the main feature of which was vacuolisation of fibres.
