12 (53%) patients with genotype A and 4 (50%) with genotype D of hepatitis virus B (HBV) had HbeAg-negative phenotype of HBV. Patients with genotypes C and D were characterized by a milder clinical course of hepatitis; liver cirrhosis progressed only in one of them. Patients infected with HBC of genotype A suffered more severe condition and earlier development of cirrhosis.
