Basic aspects of the problem (definitions, clinical, neuropsychological, biological issues) are analyzed. The author singles out common mechanisms of the brain predisposition to different paroxysms, including paroxysms developed in the same patient. The conception of paroxysms in the viewpoint of its biological essence is presented.
