Avidity of IgG antibodies and its theoretical evaluation

A new method, which allows evaluation of the avidity of bivalent antibodies when they react with bivalent antigen, is suggested. The theory is based on the idea that was proposed by us earlier. That theory considered the relation between affinity constants for bi-molecular and mono-molecular reactions of the reagents, which either are connected or not connected by a flexible linker. Using the suggested theory it makes possible to calculate antibody avidity if the affinity and molecular structure of the antibody are known. The obtained by us theoretical results completely coincide with the experimental values of antibody avidity that are known from literature.
