Virus-like particles in natural scrapie of the sheep

Small particles enclosed in a limiting membrane occur in natural scrapie of sheep in both astrocyte cell processes and nerve cell terminals. Some particles were seen apparently being formed at the plasma membranes. A few axis cylinders and pre-synaptic terminals were filled with large numbers of tubules and vesicles.
