Learning to do vaginal exams on one's fellow midwifery students is a lesson in humility and the intimacy of what midwives do. Part of midwifery is learning to enter a woman's head and body without having her feel invaded. Midwifery also requires that we learn to treat each woman as the Queen of the Day. Preventing lawsuits is an empty excuse for introducing obstetric, non-midwifery model practice.
