Six major sperm defects are discussed and illustrated; the "knobbed sperm" defect, the "diadem sperm" defect, the "decapitated sperm" defect, the "corkscrew" defect, the "pseudodroplet" defect and the "Dag" defect. A new classification of sperm defects is proposed, major sperm defects being abnormalities correlated with impaired fertility, and minor sperm defects being other deviating forms of less importance.
