The application of plates and screws, particularly those designed for the treatment of human chip fractures, is described for the internal fixation of acetabular and ilial fractures. The surgical exposure and methods of achieving open reduction are described in detail. The indications and advantages of internal fixation of pelvic fractures with plates and screws is discussed.
