Liquid media containing ampicillin (1 mg/ml) or benzylpenicillin (1000 I.U./mil) were used for isolation of M. dispar from serial dilutions of triturated pneumonic calf lungs. After incubation for two weeks in the ampicillin medium, 14 of the 19 samples tested had yielded M. dispar-like organisms, whereas only six samples were positive in the benzylpenicillin medium; the mycoplasma titres with the latter were also lower.
