Coccidioidal infection of the hip. A case report

The case is described of a 41-yr-old man with synovial involvement and subsequent extension of the disease to periacetabular bone. Culture of bone debris revealed Coccidioides immitis. Draining sinuses developed when the joint was surgically exposed and drainage was controlled by amphotericin B therapy. The patient later died from acute myocardial infarction.
