Clinical-financial integration at St. Vincent's Medical Center involved three basic initiatives: A cultural change initiative to educate individuals throughout the hospital about their contributions to the hospital's financial health. An IT initiative to take full advantage of the capability of St. Vincent's enterprisewide clinical IT system to support an integrated, clinically automated revenue cycle. A staffing initiative to realign staff roles and workflows in financial services departments to capitalize on the IT automation.
