Histochemical studies in Stavropol, Soviet Union, showed that intracellular digestion of haemoglobin takes place in the epithelium of the mid-gut in the fleas X cheopis (Roths.), Pulex irritans L. and Ctenophthalmus wladimiri Isajeva-Gurvich.
