The author presents in a brief communication the therapeutic results achieved in 14 patients suffering from tick-borne meningoencephalitis with emetine. In all patients (five in the first, nine in the second stage of the disease) a rapid favourable turn in the course of th- disease was recorded, a drop of temperature, clearing of consciousness as well as rapid regression of a number of subjective complaints. Recovery o damage of the CNS which had developed before cmetine was administered was not affected substantially by the drug. In view of the non-specific nature of the therapeutic action of emetine it is probable that it will be effective also in other virus diseases.
