The Wright peak flow meter measures a component of respiration slightly different from that measured by the spirometer. It measures the initial flow lasting about one hundredth of a second as compared to the half, three-fourth, and one second on the spirometer, and it is sensitive to the muscular element of respiration. In the present study the maximum positive correlation of PEFR was noted with FEV, followed by MVV and VC, was in accordance with Kamat et al. but they have not considered the other variables ot the spirometry as have been done in our study. It is concluded that the measurement of PEFR is equally important as that of spirometry as - a ventilatory function test.
