Ultraviolet-light traps were operated in 25 cities and towns in South Korea from May to October in 1969-71. The annual totals were between 32 799 and 92 572. High densities of Culex tritaeniorhynchus Giles were found in the south-eastern region near coastal areas. Such densities did not occur in the centre of cities, where C. pipiens L. was abundant, but in the semi-rural areas on the outskirts. Large numbers of Aedes vexans (Mg.) and Anopheles hyrcanus sinensis Wied. (A. sinensis) were also collected.r.
