我国新生儿死亡占5岁以下儿童死亡的半数。降低新生儿死亡率、改善儿童生命早期的健康状况，对提升国民健康水平、实现2030全球可持续发展议程中"终结可预防新生儿死亡"的目标具有重要意义。世界卫生组织认为，许多导致新生儿死亡和疾病的原因都是可以通过操作简单的适宜技术进行预防和避免的"新生儿早期基本保健"的核心技术包括出生后母婴持续皮肤接触、延迟断脐、母乳喂养、早产儿袋鼠式护理、新生儿复苏、感染的识别与处理等。这些具有循证依据的优先干预措施可以提升新生儿保健服务的内涵和服务质量，势必将在全国推广实施。未来需要开展更多应用性研究，探索解决实施"新生儿早期基本保健"技术过程中面临的困难和挑战。.
