Etiology of hypoacusis in children of the Chelyabinsk region in a comparative aspect

The number of children referred to the Chelyabinsk pediatric surdological center in 1998-2001 increased by 1460 (45.74%). This increase occurred primarily because of a rise in the middle ear morbidity. The onset of neurosensory hypoacusis in children became more dependent on abnormalities of pregnancy in their mothers than on pathological delivery. Statistical analysis of the data obtained allows the surdologists to reveal significant causes of the situation and develop priority lines in prophylaxis.
