Herd book data for 1953/54-1956/57 were examined in order to determine the calving interval and reasons for the disposal of cows from farms with special reference to fertility. Amongst specified factors, sterility was most significant accounting for 29.8% and low milk production for 13.2% of the total disposal rate; unspecified factors accounted for 45.7%.
