Midtrimester abortion employing extra-ovular catheter combined with serial i.m. administration of 125 .mu.g of 15-methyl prostaglandin F2.alpha. every 3 h appears to fulfil the criteria of being a safe, effective, quick and economical method. This method is far superior to many of the combined methods of induction practiced. Since abortion is induced by mechanical stimulation of the uterus augmented by the oxytocic effect of prostaglandin, the procedure is more physiological.
