The paper presents the results of simultaneous ambient air and urine analyses of workers in a plant processing dimethylamine. Apart from numerous "by-products" found to exist in the form of higher mono- and dimethylamines, the occurrence of unsymmetric dimethylamines should be noted. All low-molecular alipathic amines are metabolized relatively quickly into dimethylamine. Parallel to this an increased amount of biogene amines is discharged. It is conspicuous that the original value of amine discharge in the urine is not attained again within a 24-hour phase free from exposure.
