Synthesis of nitric oxide (NO) in patients with chronic cardiac failure (CCF) is specified. It is shown that CCF runs differently in patients with different NO production. Significant correlations exist between content of nitrites/nitrates (end NO metabolites) in 24 h urine, plasm of CCF patients and principal clinical, laboratory and device tests results in CCF. Basal levels and accumulation of nitrites/nitrates in 24 h urine and plasm of CCF patients are of prognostic importance.
