The annual warble fly survey was conducted between 4 November 2002 and 6 March 2003 in Great Britain. Serum samples from 200 769 animals in 5189 herds were tested for the presence of antibodies to the cattle warble flies, Hypoderma lineatum and Hypoderma bovis. During the testing period, no samples were confirmed to be warble fly positive. It is assumed that the number of seropositive herds directly reflects the seroprevalence of hypodermosis. The results therefore suggest that warble fly infestation is absent from, or extremely rare in Great Britain.
