There is an evolving body of research and clinical literature that illuminates the variety of psychological and sexual sequelae of a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, and the interventions that may aid in recovery. This article presents findings that highlight the impact on both patients and their family members. Recommendations are offered regarding the helpful role that physicians may play in mitigating the effects of some of the consequences of diagnosis and treatment.
