To establish complex of independent variables related to parameters of heart rate variability in patients with postinfarction cardiosclerosis. Seventy four patients (age 49-/+0.8 years) were studied in 6 months or later after myocardial infarction. Temporal and spectral characteristics of heart rate variability from 5 min ECG strips were sequentially included in a multiple linear regression model as dependent variables while data of clinical and instrumental investigation were considered as independent parameters. Depression of heart rate variability in survivors of myocardial infarction was linked to age, late postinfarction remodeling of the heart, development of systolic and diastolic left ventricular dysfunction and clinical severity of heart failure.
