Glucose tolerance was tested on 32 malnourished infants 2.5 months to 2 years old and on 20 normal infants 4 months to 2 years old after injection of adrenaline and again after prednisolone by mouth followed by injection of adrenaline with hydrocortisone. Average fasting values for blood glucose were similar for the 2 groups. After adrenaline the blood sugar curve was lower in malnourished children than in controls. This was attributed to a reduced liver glycogen content.
