Giant benign fibrolipomatous neoplasms of the pharynx with esophageal prolapse

Two cases of benign fibrolipoma of the esophagus have been reported. Marked dysphagia and weight loss had raised suspicion of a malignant lesion. Radiological signs were characteristic of an endoesophageal tumor. The pedicle could not be visualized, even at endoscopy. Total excision of the tumor required lengthy esophagotomy using thoracotomy, and removal of the pedicle required another approach. The postoperative course was uneventful.
