Emotional stress in students during examination

A study was made of the development of psychoemotional reactions in students during the final examination period. The study focused on motivations, the probability prognosis of the results, and the actual results of the examination. This study was based on the current theory of emotions with the use of a set of current psycho-physiological procedures. To determine the role of probability prognosis of the expected result in the development of psychoemotional states, students were polled on their supposed examination grade; and specific type groups of students were formed based on the difference between the actual result and the expected grade. As a whole, it was found that during the final examination period, a state of emotional strain developed in the students. This state was characterized by a set of psychophysiological and autonomic alterations, which depended on the probability prognosis of the expected grade, the level of preparation, and the examination result. This work has both a theoretical orientation in the development of concepts of the origin of the emotions, as well as a practical orientation on the improvement of the organization of the learning process with the goal of optimizing the psychoemotional status of the students.
