A list of factors, influencing the outcome of a scar, is presented. The importance of the lymphatics, in the healing of scars, especially of facial scars, is outlined. Evidence is brought forward that the direction of the lymphatic circulation of the skin, may play a decisive role in influencing the aspect of scar, especially in «U» or trap door scars.
