The study was conducted to evaluate the immunotoxic effects of endosulfan on the basis of functional immunological assays and its genotoxic potential by micronucleus assay on sheep peripheral leukocytes. The significant inhibitory effect of endosulfan on metabolic activity of peripheral blood phagocytes was registered at the actual concentrations of 10-3-10-4M. The migration of leukocytes was inhibited at 10-3M, this indicated the direct cytotoxic effect of endosulfan on the polymorphonuclear cells and monocytes of which the intensity of migration was an indicator of lymphocyte activation with mitogen. The immunotoxic effect at concentration 10-4was a significant decrease of lymphocyte activation with mitogen. The genotoxic potential of endosulfan was evaluated by micronucleus assay. Higher concentration of insecticide (10-5-10-6) resulted in a significant dose dependent increase in the number of micronuclei.
