Epidural morphine in the treatment of tetanus

Tetanus, a not uncommon condition in this country, especially in the warmer areas, is generally treated with increasing doses of sedatives and narcotics, including morphine. One of the side-effects of this increasing sedation is respiratory depression necessitating artificial ventilation, for which facilities are not always available, particularly in country areas. With this in mind it was decided to test the efficacy of epidural morphine in the treatment of tetanus.
