In seven patients with severe symptom-producing arteriosclerosis in the lower limbs, the peripheral pressure in the lower limbs was measured before and two hours after administration of 4 mg morphine epidurally. Administration of morphine did not alter the peripheral pressure significantly. Skin perfusion pressure measurements during epidural morphine treatment may thus be of guiding value in the choice of level of amputation.
