Male Wistar rats about 250 grams of body weight were forced to swim for six weeks (six days a week). Pieces of epididymal fat pads were incubated in 5e/o albumin in Krebs-Ringer phosphate buffer at pH 7.4 for 2 h. Effects of glucose and insulin on spontaneous lipolysis and effect of sodium lactate on lipolysis activated by noradrenaline were studied. It has been found that inhibitory effect of insulin on lipolysis decreases in trained rats while the effect of glucose and sodium lactate is not affected by training, Such tissue changes undoubtedly facilitate free fatty acid mobilization during exercise in trained animals.
