The author describes his experience with a patient on whom he had performed the operation of racanalization of the vas. The patient would not inform clinic personnel that his positive semen test was the result of recanalization, and not due an unsuccessful vasectomy. Neither would he tell friends and acquaintances that his vasectomy was reversed, thereby giving a boost to the program. He refused to do so because he said he was against vasectomy. This is an example of the innumerable difficulties which continue to harass the family planning program, however well-meaning the approach and faultless the implementation of the methods.
