The examination of 982 healthy Yerevan schoolgirls, aged 7 to 15 (the control group) as well as 337 girls with intrauterine growth retardation (IGR) and 240 girls born preterm, showed the girls from the latter two groups to have retarded sexual development as compared to their healthy counterparts. Therefore they require dispensary supervision and a combination of therapeutic and preventive treatments to ensure adequate physical and sexual development.
