In summary, elevated serum CPK activity levels following endurance exercise is a common observation, and levels in the range up to 103 U//can usually be detected within 24-48 h following the event. The clinical significance of CPK-emia following exercise, without other manifestations of extensive muscle damage namely muscle pain and myoglobinuria is questionable.
