In the last 10 years, carcinoma of the cervix decreased in Czechoslovakia whereas carcinoma of the endometrium increased. These changes cannot be explained by population differences. More attention should be given to the 1) bioptic cause of irregular bleedings from the uterus in women once they reach the age of 40, and 2) prevention of carcinoma of the cervix in order to prove that the decrease is not merely an apparent change. If Kaiser's new concept of the influence of low natality tending to increase the level of calmness in the endometrium and the old traumatic concept of the development of carcinoma of the cervix is accepted, then the decrease of cervical cancer and the increase of endometrial cancer would both have the same cause, the decrease of natality among the present female population.
