This appears to be the first report describing cases of cats suspected of being bitten by V. palaestinae. The cases differed in severity and in clinical presentation. Haemoconcentration occurred in 2 cases; and anaemia, hypoproteinaemia, haemolysis and the appearance of nucleated erythrocytes in another. Thrombocytopenia varied from mild to moderate to severe. It is suggested that these variations reflected the stage and severity of envenomation, and may be due to factors in the snake and/or victim and the time lapsed since the bite occurred.
