Stimulation of sexual behaviour in male and female rats with the synthetic androgen, 17beta-hydroxyoestra-4-en-3-one (19-nortestosterone)

It is shown that injection of 19-nortestosterone stimulates sexual receptivity in ovariectomised females , the response, however, being significantly less than after injection of oestradiol benzoate. Injection of 19-nortestosterone also maintained aspects of sexual behaviour in castrated male rats.
