Current and future concerns for malaria in Africa

The components of malaria control strategies, the constraints in achieving the strategies and the role played by the home and community in the prevention and treatment of malaria are discussed. The importance of effective identification of risk groups and of providing health education is emphasized. It is concluded that it will be the will of the people and the national authorities to mobilize locally available resources and capacities towards malaria control and recognition of the disease and economic burden of malaria that will exert an impact in the future on the control of malaria.
