Emigration and employment policy in Portugal

An analysis of the pattern of Portuguese migration in the last ten years reveals an increased flow after 1961, and the rising importance of European destinations. An inquiry made by the Corporation of Industry in December 1964 showed that the sectors most affected by the migration problem were the mining, textiles, furniture, leather, machinery and electrical goods industry.
