This article addresses the question, "Why should we integrate traditional medicine (TM) with modern medicine (MM)?" The strong points and weaknesses of the two medical systems are emphasized. The present status of integrative medicine in Vietnam (health care services, training and education, scientific research, and processing and manufacturing of traditional medicines) is also described.
