Patient non-compliance may be perceived by health-care practitioners as hindering implementation of best practice and contributing to the poor outcome of leg ulcer treatments. Patients, however, may believe that the leg ulcer will not heal and that nothing they do will alter that. They may feel that the treatment will necessitate changes in life-style that will outweigh the benefits to be gained by compliance1.
