The 100-fold increase in absorption of 233Pa by the neonate as compared with the adult rat is consistent with our comparative retention values for most other actinides. The magnitude of the percentage retained by the intestine of the neonate also resembles our observations with other actinides. As in the case of the adult, about 60% of the retained 233Pa was deposited in the skeleton; about half that much in muscle. In contrast to most other actinides, the liver, in both neonates and adults, was not a major site of retention.
